A shelf can be a place for a favourite print and a place for spare stationery. Those objects do not need the same kind of visibility. A display invites looking; a labelled box makes a group of supplies recognisable without showing every piece.
This opens a choice beyond covering every wall with storage: one existing shelf can combine an open area and a contained one.
Visible for a reason
An everyday notebook may belong within easy reach. A collection might deserve an open view. Spare leads can share a labelled box whose handle faces the room.
An IKEA small-space example combines open display and closed containers within the same shelving arrangement. It is an interior-design example, not evidence that a particular shelf will suit another home. Our application is to give visibility a purpose, with no required ratio of open to closed storage.
Frequency, loaded weight and comfortable reach help decide which level each group occupies. Heavy and frequently used belongings belong within suitable reach; light occasional groups may suit higher positions.
A wall arrangement also uses floor space
A 30 cm-deep unit, about 12 in, still needs space in front for a person and an open container. A door-mounted organiser also moves through an arc when the door opens.

The installation belongs to the particular home
Permission and physical suitability are separate checks. Lease and building rules determine what is allowed; wall or door construction and the exact product’s instructions determine support. Uncertain mounting or hidden services call for qualified help.
Paid link: the untested Removable wall hooks (Command Large Utility Hooks) list up to 5 lb / 2.3 kg per hook on approved smooth indoor surfaces. They are not shelf fixings; wallpaper, textured walls, valuables and locations over beds are unsuitable.
Adhesive does not promise damage-free removal, and freestanding furniture may require anchoring. Exits, fire doors, ventilation, detectors, sockets and maintenance access remain clear. A loaded organiser must let a door close and latch without force. Movement, loosening or interference means use stops until the cause is resolved.

This is not the taller 3627/3628 model.
